He is always there
Okay... ...so this morning I woke to a IM from an acquaintance telling me, "I wanna know more about this person they call God... ...if it is his will... ...What does that even mean?"
So three questions are implied in her IM to me, and I can't do an exhaustive answer but I can share what I replied. That is the reason for today's blog.
This is my reply.
God's will are the things that please Him or His Design and what He would like for us to do and say and think. But first it is His love for us in Christ Jesus to be sons and daughters of His family. It's like your son. He knows what pleases you because He knows you and listens to you and loves you.
[We all love when we see the little ones imitating us, lol - imitation is the greatest form of flattery they say! Imitation has a similarity to the word image. Christ is called the express image of God in the Bible. The Greek behind that phrase opens our eyes to exactly what is meant by that statement and anyone can research it.]
Do we stray, yes, but love brings us back into relationship. The same with God, He desires us to be in constant relationship for us like you and your son/daughter. You want the best life for them because you love them and God wants that for us.
That was my reply excluding the brackets.
If I might go on a tad bit longer. Positivity Matters. In this blog it the positive nature of God and God's loving character that affects our lives. To be wrong is not the end result as they say to err is human. Well there is truth in that because we all can honestly say we miss the mark in life. However that is not the end of the road. Redemption is a curious and wonderful part of life we see in this sphere all around us.
What if there was a greater redemption far better than anything this world could offer. We see the tangible things of this world, but the intangible things are clearly more valuable to us. Life is valuable. Love is valuable. Laughter is valuable. Sometimes pain is valuable. We live and we learn and we grow. Hopefully somewhere along that path we become better people making everywhere better because we are a part of it.
I would call that positive. I believe that God affects us in such a way that we become all that we can be in this life in preparation for the next. I believe that God is knowable. He wants to be knowable. The same way a parent first sees that child, or a man first meets that woman, or a child first meets that friend, the "knowing process" begins. Well, God is here waiting. I call Him God and recognize His hand in nature, in people, in circumstances, all over the world and history of it.
The Bible declares that God is not far from us. Paul speaking in ancient times made this statement in Act 17:27, "that they should seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us [New American Standard Bible]."
Reach out and touch somebody's hand is part of the lyrics of a song, and I say reach out and touch is exactly what makes the longing for a creator real to us. God loves us and relationship is a mark of His loves that moves us all. He is not far from any of us!
