Maintaining Positivity and Perseverance even when things go wrong

Well, it has been quite some time since I last set finger to the keyboard to type a smidgen of positivity.  However, fear not, the fingers appear to work just fine and we are back in business.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of accompanying a friend on a ride with our motorcycles.  Can you imagine the feeling of riding your bike for the first time.  The nervous excitement to finally making the move.  You have taken the course that teaches you how to ride.  You have ridden your friends motorcycle in the parking lot for practice, and now you have your baby.

It all starts out slow and off you go down the street as you follow your friend through the neighborhood.  Alas, you make it to your first stop sign.  Your friend signals and makes his left turn as you await traffic to pass.  Then, your mind and fingers don't align and just like that the bike stalls, and you are leaning in an awkward position as the weight of the bike begins to fall over... ...down goes Frazier!

When your friend realizes that you are not behind him, he reverses course and finds you trying to pick up the bike as cars are stuck behind you in the street. No worries, it is something that happens, the two of you gather the bike, roll it to the side, and have a quick laugh.  Nothing more than a scratch and your first lesson in riding.

Things happen.  Life is not perfect.  We all make mistakes.

After a quick check, you mount up again full of energy and enthusiasm, with a little apprehension, yet courage kicks in and off you two go.

The Bible says that the just man falls seven times but the Lord lifts him up.  That is a true saying.  Further it says that one will fall but if there is another you will have help.  Friends can truly be closer than a brother. In this case it is just the two of you, and it is always good to have friends that truly care about our well being in life.  We know that we are not islands alone, or even small islands.  We all need help!

What is constant can be our approach and even though things do happen in life, our attitude can be the difference if we persevere. I like a song sung in a an old holiday children's show that went something along this line:

"...put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walking out the door."

That is a solid truth. One step at a time, even if we stumble. The next step we take can be the winning step or the one after that.  The one thing we have to do is keep taking that next step.  That attitude of positivity and perseverance can be all the difference in life.
