My Vacation of sorts to Bogota, Colombia

Hi friends, back at it for another quick blog on my life.  As you know, if you follow my blog history, I am a person that has a variety of interests.  Those include Jet Ski, Motorcycles, Hiking, Kayaking, and of course I like to visit the city of Bogota.  I really don't know why of all places on earth I am endeared to like this, outside of Jerusalem, but I like the city.

Ok. So, I went to Bogota from Aug. 31 this year until Sept. 13th.  As is my custom, I rented an apartment [1 bedroom] which is preferable for the length of my stay.  Why? Well, I usually have some Colombian pesos with me when I arrive in order to go food shopping.  Now, the food in the country is really good, but two weeks of eating out can be done or in my case, having breakfast in the apartment or something to eat when friends come over is a good thing.  This is my recommendation for anyone.  The majority of tourist, which I don't consider myself to be, if you have plans to visit, should rent an apartment instead of the hotel.  Try to be like a casual Colombian and I assure you that you will not regret the experience.  Going to the Exito to buy goods, walking the streets [safely], conversing in the elevator with common people, reading the Transmilinnial, taking taxis, and more daily activities that normal Colombians do.  For instance, explaining to staff what problem your apartment  may or may not have.  It is a rich experience to live this way.

As you may guess, I did visit great places as is my custom.  You will love Monserrate, Jardin Botanica is highly recommended as well.  A great place to eat was Ristorante Store Amore in Zone T.  Please take the time to hang out late in Zona T and experience the ambience of loud music playing and throngs of people all around.  Of course, Crepes and Waffles is a local delicious treat you should try.  

Finally, if you don't have friends who live there, try to make friends before your trip.  Why?  They can take you places a tourist will never go, and you also will hear the Colombian vernacular in a way that will surprise you.  The daily banter is delightful, even just riding in a taxi and chatting if different.

Bogota is a vibe and you feel it immediately when you exit the plane.  You have to experience it to understand.
