In Life We Are always Graduating from Moment to Moment
This past weekend I had the opportunity to go back to my home city of West Palm Beach. It is the place of my birth, and I never want to leave the city when I am there. I see the beaches and the palm trees, and I feel like just laying there. However, I can't. It is beautiful to live in Florida!
That brings me to the point of this writing. Graduation. What is the first thing that you think of when you hear that word? Keep that fresh in your mind. The reason being is that graduation happens more often than we think.
We were younger than we are today. Each day brought something fresh and new. God says that His mercies are new each morning. When you wake up next to your loved one, each day presents a graduation of sorts. The opportunity to step into the next chapter of your life. More importantly, think about all the things that have transpired in your life to give you the personal growth you may have now. Life presents challenges in various ways.
I had to go to a funeral, and for me funerals are not sad but more deep in thought. My thought there was how instant and final life is. I looked around in a cemetery, and so many people, including my family. The thought struck me that even though I know my family, I really don't. We don't have enough life to learn it all. We are constantly learning and expanding, yet we are just one speck of sand in a larger scheme of things.
So graduation is constant. Graduation is a form of life. When we meet someone new and begin to share different moments we are doing something new. Everything is new all the time for some folks. I would say that you make your life a life of graduation. Constantly scaling new personal experiences, and deepening your life. What challenges you and causes you to really have to work. Graduate from that and then find something else.
As I thought at the funeral. When you leave this life, hopefully you will have lived a full life, full of years, full of graduation. You will have fulfilled your potential and helped someone else fulfill theirs. When it is time for your final graduation, you will be able to look back over your days on earth with a hearty smile and a laugh knowing that you are now a true life graduate!
