What If We Were Nice?
In many parts of our world, people are impacted by the ongoing pandemic and discussion of COVID-19. In case, you are unaware, or have been isolated deep in a tropical jungle unable to communicate with the world at at-large, there is a human coronovirus circulating that has taken over the news media.
In my country, America, the impact has been widespread, affecting the economy, and drawing society into a sort of escape house. Here we are, puzzled about this issue, yet desiring to return to the way of life as we have known it. Plus, as Americans, we are a fickle people, and the freedom from restriction of movement is what we expect. Historically, for us, the spring is a time of love, laughter, and renewed hope. It is filled with fun, and planning, as well as relief from the colder days of winter.
Now this.
In the midst of all this, the fear and anxiety of it all affects people. We are unique. Everyone does not deal with stress or the uncomfortable the same. By nature we are creatures of habit. When our structure breaks down, sometimes, so do we. How so fitting, that adaption is one of the peculiar human traits that aids us in periods such as these.
The adaption I am inferring is that in the midst of trying conditions, we have the opportunity to be truly humane. Sharing is caring we teach our children in kindergarten. Now we are all in a social kindergarten. What will we do? Can we get along in the societal sandbox, or do we need authorities to put us in time out. I don't think we do.
I believe that we are more than capable of presenting a kind version of ourselves. Now is the time to be nice. Let your love light shine. Today make someone else's day.
